Spartacus Blood and Sand Episode Guide
Spartacus Blood and Sand describes the early life of Spartacus (Andy Whitfield). He is Thracian warrior who was enslaved by the Romans and reborn as Rome’s most famous gladiator. Between 73 to 71 BC he led a massive revolution against the Roman Republic to free slaves.
As punishment for disobeying the order of Roman commander Claudius Glaber, he and his wife Sura are forced into slavery. Separated from his love of his life, his captors throw him into the gladiatorial arena to fight, promising him he will be reunited with Sura if he wins. Spartacus must fight to survive, befriend his foes and play politics in Rom’s world of corruption, brutality and deception. But his love for his wife gives him the strength to slay every opponent placed before him, in this modern tale of death, honor and endurance.
The group of fearless gladiators include, Crixus (Manu Bennett), Barca (Antonio Te Maioha), Varro (Erin Cummings) and Gannicus (Dustin Clare). Aside from shocking violence and abundant blood spatter, a key characteristic of Spartacus Blood and Sand is the promiscuous interpretation of the Roman Republic, embodied by Lucy Lawless as Lucretia, Viva Bianca as Ilithyia, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Naevia and Jaime Murray as Gaia.

Special Announcement
Liam McIntyre, an Australian actor who starred in HBO's The Pacific, has been tapped to replace Andy Whitfield in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Production on the second season of Spartacus is scheduled to resume by spring.
