Boardwalk Empire Episode Guide
HBO's Boardwalk Empire returns to 1920, WW1 was over, Wall Street was about to roar and the long shadow of Prohibition was about to spread. It was a time of change when women got the right to vote, broadcast radio set out and young man ruled America.
Boardwalk Empire is set in New Jersey, Atlantic City, a prominent holiday resort known as “The World’s Playground,” a place where the rules did not apply. Giant hotels lined its famous Boardwalk, which had nightclubs, restaurants and live shows that matched Broadway. For a few bucks, a working man could visit Atlanta City and live like a king.
The story centers on Atlantic City treasurer Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, the city treasurer whose double role as politician and bootlegger makes him the city's undisputed ruler. Nucky Thompson is equal parts politician and gangster and equally comfortable in either role. Because of Atlantic City's strategic location on the sea, the town is ideal for importing and distributing alcohol troughout America, and Nucky takes full advantage.
Together with his brother Elias, the town’s sheriff, and a crew of crime bosses and local gangsters, Nucky controls the illegal alcohol trade. He was an equal-opportunity gangster, doing business with Arnold Rothstein, “Big Jim” Colosimo, “Lucky” Luciano and Al Capone.Previous Episode
